February 2, 2010

Present:  Gray, Freethey  (Grant at 4:30 PM), Tax collector, Town Clerk and Treasurer.

  • Catherine Rees was appointed to the Planning Board Committee as an alternate member for a 3 year term.
  • School warrant was corrected this week to include the tuition due to the DI/Ston High School for ½ the year.  Enrollment names were also correct.
  • Rich responded back to Michelle M. Webber, Shellfish Program Coordinator for the DMR, and told her “YES”, we would like to receive email notices for emergency pollution and red tide legal notices so we will immediately become aware of clam flat closures.  Several towns have opted to make the change to email to eliminate costs for paper & ink, and also to receive notices if the office is closed when faxes are sent.  Rich will receive an email notice, as well as the town office and the town clerk.
  • Rob Shillady dropped off the State Map showing all the Town Roads in Brooklin. This map has to be reviewed to make sure all town roads are correctly listed. The selectboard will check for accuracy because the URIP money is based on this.
  • Reminders were mailed to chairmen of all committees.  Asking for reports that will be included in the town report, to be in the town office by the end of Feb.
  • Pictures from the Keeping Society were brought over to the town office to be used in the town report.
  • Another budget workshop is scheduled for Saturday, 9 AM at the town office.
  • Next meeting, Feb. 9th, the school board will present their upcoming budget.

Approved  Minutes – Feb. 16, 2010

Present:  Gray, Grant and Freethey

  • Bangor Hydro asked for a signed letter with a favorable reply in order to travel over posted roads to perform restoration activities due to interruption of service.  Jerry will sign a favorable reply letter.
  • The board reviewed the articles for the town warrant.
  • *A report was signed by the board to remove “Terrorism Attack” from the town insurance policy – saving $260.00.  The signed report to be returned to Merle B. Grindle Agency.
  • Rich signed the application for the US Army Core of Engineers Permit for the Shellfish Conservation Committee to add brush to clam flats to help with the re-seeding program.
  • The chairman for “Reviewing Town Government” presented the board with their report and recommendations for the officers, duties, responsibilities, etc. of the town office.  The select board had several questions on this report and will set up a meeting with the Town Government committee.

Present:  Gray, Grant and Freethey

Approved minutes of meeting held on Feb. 16, 2010.  Voted 3-0 to accept as read.

The board reviewed the Selectmen Report for the town report.  A few corrections were made.  Jerry did a great job outlining the  town business for the past year.

The board also reviewed the articles for the Town Warrant.  Corrections were made and the warrant is ready for the printer.  All material will be delivered by L. Grant to the printer on Monday, March 1st.

The Town of Brooklin did not win the lottery in the drawing for the use of the radar speed trailer from the “loan program” offered by DOT.
